Lumbar strain is a stretch injury to the ligaments, tendons, and/or muscles of the low back resulting in tissue tears of varying degrees. It is the most common cause of lower back pain and most often occurs in people in their 40s. It can be caused by lifting improperly, overuse, sports injuries and other reasons.
The treatment of lumbar strain consists of resting the back (to avoid re-injury), medications to relieve pain and muscle spasm, local heat applications, massage and rehabilitation exercises to strengthen the low back and abdominal muscles.
Initial treatment for minor lumbar strain might include heat application, and the use of “over the counter” pain relievers such as Tylenol and Advil etc. And, of course, rest to protect from further injury.
Further injury is also avoided by employing back-protection techniques during activities and third party support devices as needed at home or work, depending on your situation. An effective support devise is the Miracle Cushion Multi-purpose Lumbar and Neck Support cushion. This cushion uses “column buckling” technology to provide a surprisingly comfortable cushioning lumbar support. It molds very nicely between patient and seat / chair to provide very soft but fully supportive cushioning. Lower back pain can be greatly reduced during the healing cycle. The continued use of the cushion provides for reducing further injury.
Our users find all sorts of ways to creatively get comfort. This Harley rider in Australia does not go anywhere without her Miracle Cushion strapped to the seat of her Harley. In her words "It's the bomb!" She was so pleased with the result she posted this pic on Facebook while touring the island state of Tasmania. We have had other riders who have actually stitched their Miracle Cushion into the seat, permanently. It really is the bomb for rear end comfort.
I would just like to take a quick moment to wish all of our customers, friends and followers a very Merry Christmas and holiday season. What a fabulous time of year this is! Don't you just love it? It's the best time of year for so many reasons. Many of us feel uplifted, happier and more generous. It's a time of joy and celebration. Our US office is well into winter, while our folks in our Australia office are sweltering in record temperatures. Snow in the US and surf and sand in Australia. Very different Christmas's.
For us this is the best time of year for sales. People treat themselves to things they have wanted and others buy gifts for friends and loved ones. Giving the gift of comfort and pain relief, through a Miracle Cushion gel seat cushion or medical grade therapeutic cushion, is the gift that gives all year long.
So take care during Christmas. Don't over eat, keep in shape and keep safe.
So many business don't answer the phone, don't like sending time answering customer questions and don't think past the immediate sale. And then they wonder why their business does not thrive, or worse, closes its doors.
Miracle Cushion management made a conscious decision when we opened to serve people in a way that we would personally like to be served ourselves. We are pleased to take calls from people who simply want to ask questions about our products. In fact we are thrilled that you would call us to inquire! We love to speak to potential customers and, of course, returning customs who have more questions about our gel seal cushions. We love it when people trust us enough to share their medical conditions with us, as we try to help them find relief and choose the right model.
So how do we create "raving fans"? Simple! We treat people the way we want to be treated and go the extra mile to make sure they are completely happy with our product and our service. Here is an example of a customer we turned into a raving fan.
"EVERY business has examples of times where either mistakes were made or all did not run as smoothly as planned. The difference between highly successful companies and mediocre companies is how the problems are dealt with/resolved. In the ordering and receipt process for our first Miracle Cushion, problems were encountered with the shipping company. Miracle Cushion customer service and management went way beyond the call of duty to make sure we received our cushion as quickly as possible. I received immediate, direct communication from customer service and upper management all the way through the successful receipt of my cushion. I know that the resolution of the problem took additional time and money on the part of Miracle Cushion. At every point in the process I felt like I was dealing with a company whose first interest is to make sure I am happy with their product and service - A RARE, FOR THESE DAYS, HIGHLY CUSTOMER-CENTERED COMPANY!! …and, by the way, we think the Miracle Cushion is an excellent product. My wife, for the first time in years post-back surgery, feels she can return in comfort (thanks to the manyfold increase in sitting time afforded by the Miracle Cushion) to classes and seminars, which have been a joyful and interesting activity in her life for so many years. Since the original purchase we have purchased three more Miracle Cushions for ourselves, friends, and family. Thank you Miracle Cushion and we wish you much success in the future with your cushions." .. David
This customer had a problem. He was in the East, from California, and traveling on business accompanied by his wife, who was having pain with all the travelling. We dispatched his cushion by expedited shipping but it never made it to his hotel in time through a carrier mix up. Not our fault, but we tried to fix it! He moved to his next location, so we shipped another cushion and missed him again. So we sent him a third cushion, over-nighted this time to his home in California. He got the cushion and his wife was very pleased. Result, we lost over $100 on this transaction, but gained a happy, loyal customer who went on to buy more cushions from us and wrote us this wonderful testimonial.
In our view the price of a happy customer is "priceless". Not only do we really enjoy serving people like this but it's just good business.
Choosing a therapeutic cushion for yourself or a loved one can be daunting. They can be expensive so the decision is important. And not to mention a mistake can cause the user pain and discomfort, or at the very least, less comfort than might have been achieved with the correct purchase.
There are many makes and models on the market all touting their comfort and pressure relieving benefits. But how can you tell the difference between what is fact and fiction in the marketing materials provided by the manufacturers?
It is a very difficult task for anyone trying to pick a good cushion that will be both comfortable and safe. "Safe", meaning being low risk of creating pressure sores. While we are all different and have individual comfort levels and pain tolerance, there are some things where we are all fundamentally the same. Physiologically we are the same. We are comprised of flesh and blood which reacts in very similar circumstances to each other.
The first thing I would look for is user reviews. The web is very transparent and overflowing with information. Some good, some bad and some simply not accurate. However it does allow us to easy connect with others in the same situation as us and who have tried the cushions we might be considering. People are very vocal if they don't like a product and equally vocal if they are over the moon with a product that has seriously helped them. These people want to share their experience and help others make intelligent buying decisions, or avoid mistakes they may have made. It's human nature! So search for product reviews related to the specific ones you are researching. It won't take long before you will have all the information you need.
Many times I have been about to place an order for a product that sounds "wonderful", when reading the marketing material. Then I have researched the customer reviews and found information, from product users, that have totally turned me off the product, and in some cases, the company itself. So do your homework on product reviews.
Secondly, look at the technology. Is it different than the others? Or is it the same basic technology with a different "coat of paint", meaning it is just presented a little differently, but really the same thing. Has the technology been around for a long time? This can have both positive and negative implications so you need to look a little closer. A technology that has been around a long time might just be "old and tired and re-hashed". Alternatively it could be proven and reliable. Foam and memory foam cushions for example, are an example of "old and tired" and definitely past it's "use by date".
Foam cushions have been rehashed in so many different forms over so many years. Each new form is touted as a new break though, or new technology, but in the end, it's still just foam with the same old attributes and the same lack luster performance. Column buckling gel, on the other hand, is both a new and innovative technology, but has been around long enough to have been proven in many fields of use. The myriad of testimonials, clinical studies and wide use in medical fields attest to that fact.
When choosing the right cushion, remember, cost factor is not a sufficient or reliable indicator of either quality or effectiveness. It's apparent that some of the most expensive cushions can be the least effective. That's called marketing!
So, to summarize, customer reviews and verifiable science are the best indicators for you to make an informed and intelligent decision when buying a therapeutic seat or wheelchair cushion.
Miracle Cushion has launched direct sales in Australia and now shipping product locally. This is a big step forward and very helpful to our loyal Australian customers. Until now, our Aussie customers have had to pay the high price of shipping their orders from the US. Sometimes that has meant paying as much for shipping as they did for the product.
We now have Wondergel inventory in Adelaide, which is on the south coast centrally located in the middle of the continent. Convenient for shipping both east, west and north, covering the whole country.
